A gastronomic restaurant in the heart of a natural site

Located near Narbonne, on the Occitan coast, in the magnificent setting of Château l'Hospitalet, in the middle of protected vineyards and garrigues, in the heart of the natural site of the Massif de la Clape, the gastronomic restaurant l'Art de Vivre enjoys an exceptional environment.
A true showcase of the Mediterranean art of living while incorporating a touch of modernity, l'Art de Vivre is under the guidance of Chef Laurent Chabert, who has been at the helm of the Château l'Hospitalet for the past 8 years. He is now accompanied by the Head Sommelier Pierre-Alexis Mengual, to offer an original experience of vertical cuisine in a completely redesigned setting, right between the earth and the sky.

Here, nature is king, magnified, an integral part of the décor through the bay windows, and in the plate a perfect balance always achieved in harmony with the great wines of Domaines Gérard Bertrand.

A modern and creative chef, attached to the land

Chef Laurent Chabert has been at the head of the restaurant since 2014.
His talent, humility and love of the land make this son of a breeder from Auvergne an outstanding cook in the conception of gastronomic dishes.
He began his career in the Allier region and then in the Alps in Val d'Isère as second chef for 4 years at the Becca, 1 Michelin star.

Nourished by all these experiences, he settled down at the Château, a place that resembles him. He discovered the beauty of the estate, the unspoilt nature of the Massif de la Clape and the Narbonne coast. He then developed the pleasure of working with local and organic products, growing his own vegetable garden and picking aromatic herbs in the massif.

The choice of local and seasonal products

The restaurant serves beef from Aubrac, lamb from the Pyrenees, pork from the Montagne Noire, eel from Gruissan and, of course, fish from the Mediterranean Sea.
Working as much as possible with organic products and biodynamic preparations, the Chef makes a point of respecting the rhythm of the seasons in the choice of the products worked. It is with the lunar calendar that he builds his menus and his vertical compositions.
Accompanied by his brigade, Chef Laurent Chabert creates a creative cuisine, highlighting the Languedoc region and biodiversity.

A word about our team

With a very personal welcome, guests are invited to enjoy a unique gastronomic experience, composed by the Chef's kitchen and the team in the dining room.

Chef Sommelier Pierre-Alexis Mengual is from Bordeaux and has a self-taught background driven by passion, gastronomy and the fascinating world of wine. He has been able to achieve numerous international titles such as the Diploma Wset, the CMS of the Court of Master Sommelier or the FWS. Best Sommelier of Bordeaux 2021, Pierre-Alexis Mengual will join the teams of Château l'Hospitalet in May 2022 to bring his talent and sublimate Gérard Bertrand's wine and food pairings. He has just been awarded the prestigious Ruinart Sommelier Challenge.
