Located near Narbonne, on the Occitan coast, in the magnificent setting of Château l’Hospitalet, in the middle of vineyards and protected scrubland, in the heart of the natural site of the Massif de la Clape, the gastronomic restaurant l’Art de Vivre benefits an exceptional environment.

Nestled in the middle of Gérard Bertrand’s wine estate, great wines and appellations have pride of place here.

A true showcase of the Mediterranean art of living while incorporating a touch of modernity, the dishes are refined, colorful and fragrant, the cooking is perfect and the dressings are harmonious.

The restaurant gives pride of place to organic and local products, while respecting the seasonality of the products.

This delicate and light cuisine is always made in harmony with the great wines of Gérard Bertrand.

A modern and creative Chef, attached to the terroir

Chef Laurent CHABERT has been at the head of the restaurant since 2014.

His talent, his humility and his love of the land make this son of Auvergne breeder an outstanding cook in the design of gourmet dishes.

He began his career in Corsica and then in a starred restaurant in Val d’Isère. Nourished by all these experiences, he puts his suitcases down at the Château, a place that resembles him. There he discovered the beauty of the estate, the unspoiled nature of the Massif de la Clape and the Narbonne coast. He then developed the pleasure of working with local and organic products, cultivating his own vegetable garden and picking aromatic herbs in the massif.

Accompanied by the Pastry Chef and his team, Chef Laurent Chabert creates creative cuisine, highlighting the Languedoc region and biodiversity.

Inspired by the calm and serenity of the place as well as the omnipresent nature, the Chef places particular emphasis on the plant world on his plates. The use of edible flowers, herbs or berries is one of its hallmarks.

The choice of local and seasonal products

Thanks to his team, the Chef selects the best local suppliers in order to be able to serve the best possible quality to his customers.

The vegetables all come from the Occitanie region. Some vegetables and aromatic herbs come directly from the Château’s vegetable garden or from the Massif de la Clape.

The restaurant serves beef from Aubrac, lamb from the Pyrenees and Catalan sausage, eel from Gruissan and of course fish caught in the Mediterranean Sea.

Working as much as possible with organic products, the Chef makes a point of respecting the rhythm of the seasons in the choice of processed products.

1 glass of wine (12 cl) per dish selected from Gérard Bertrand wines:

“The estates” – 37  €

Or

“Grands Vins and Single Vineyards” – 50 €

Service in at least 2 hours. Excluding drinks. The same menu will be served to all guests. Last order taking 1:15 p.m. for lunch. 9:15 p.m. for dinner. Served every day (noon and evening, except Friday evening).

3 course menu (excluding drinks) – Noon only from Tuesday to Friday (excluding public holidays).
Possibility of adding a selection of two regional cheeses to the menu (supplement of € 7).

Several distinctions and a label rewarding a quality restaurant

The Art de Vivre restaurant was awarded the Michelin Plate and two covers in the red guide.

The Michelin plate is a distinction rewarding the quality of the products and the expertise of its chef.

As for the two covers, they reward the quality of the welcome and the service, the comfort, the cleanliness, the setting and the atmosphere of the restaurant.

Gault & Millau, another famous gastronomic guide selecting the best French tables according to strict criteria (cuisine, atmosphere and general experience) awarded the restaurant with two Toques, an honorable rating attributed to true Chef’s Tables.

Finally, Chef Laurent Chabert holds the title of Maître Restaurateur.

This certification is the only title awarded by the State for French catering. This title rewards the professional skills as well as the Chef’s commitment to working with raw and fresh products.

In the pleasant and warm setting of the Château’Hospitalet estate, and always selecting products from the Occitan region, the Chef invites you to enjoy a simpler but still as refined restaurant:

On the patio side, for aperitifs paired with food and wine (regional cheeses, olives, cold meats, etc.).
On the terrace side, fresh dishes and light delicacies are served (club sandwich, gazpacho, fruit plate, homemade ice cream and sorbet, etc.).

    Dinner-concert every Friday evening, a jazzy and friendly experience

    For Jazz Fridays, the Art de Vivre restaurant welcomes you every week for a gourmet and jazzy evening during a dinner concert.

    During this dinner with musical entertainment, you will taste gourmet dishes paired with food and wine.
